In celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, Relate Africa, a leading mental health and human development NGO, held a powerful outreach event aimed at empowering female traders and market women. The event took place at Idumota Market, Lagos on March 8, 2025, gathering over 100 women for a day of financial education, business skills development, and community support.
The outreach focused on delivering practical solutions to improve financial literacy, promote business growth, and encourage economic inclusion. It aligns directly with Relate Africa’s mission to foster community development, mental wellness, and women’s empowerment across Nigeria and Africa.
Financial Literacy Training: Participants were introduced to savings strategies, investment options, budgeting, and ways to access microloans and grants.
Business Skills Workshops: Sessions covered how to attract customers, improve sales through marketing, and take small businesses online for increased visibility and profit.
Community Dialogue: Open discussions explored themes around gender equity, support systems, and the role of state intervention in empowering market women.
Each attendee also received printed resources and food packs, reinforcing Relate Africa’s hands-on, community-first approach.
The event was a key moment in Relate Africa’s 2025 calendar of activities, serving as both an engagement and impact milestone. As the organization continues to expand its footprint, similar empowerment programs for women, especially in informal sectors, will be replicated across Nigeria and other African regions.
This outreach affirms Relate Africa’s commitment to grassroots development, mental health advocacy, and inclusive growth strategies tailored for underserved populations.
